Malmö Nation vill adressera de reaktioner som en visa i den senaste upplagan av vår visbok väckt. Vi vill återigen be om ursäkt för “Pandemivisan” och dess publicering i vår visbok. När visan inkluderades i vår senaste upplaga av visboken var intentionen på intet sätt menat att vara rasistiskt, utan tvärtom som en parodi på de som tror att det finns någon folkgrupp som går att beskylla för en pandemi. För oss var det självklart att en global pandemi inte går att tillskrivas en folkgrupp. I retrospektiv var detta naivt och klandervärt av oss och för det ber vi verkligen om ursäkt för. Vi tar fullt ansvar för publiceringen av “Pandemivisan” och inser allvaret av det som inträffat. Vi har sett över hanteringen av detta vilket har resulterat i en handlingsplan som vi kommer att agera utefter omgående.
Det kommer att tryckas en ny reviderad upplaga visböcker där “Pandemivisan” inte är inkluderad. Under terminen har det sålts 167 stycken visböcker och vi uppmanar alla de 167 personer som har denna upplaga att kostnadsfritt byta ut denna mot den nya upplagan eller få pengarna tillbaka.
Vidare har vi tillsatt en arbetsgrupp som kommer att se över vår likabehandlingsplan och även utveckla ett kontrollsystem för att något liknande aldrig sker igen.
Vi är en nation som jobbar aktivt med transparens, öppenhet och likabehandling, men i den här situationen har vi brustit. Vi har tagit till oss kritiken och vi kan och vill alltid utvecklas. Malmö Nation wants to address the reactions to a song in the latest edition of our songbook. Once again, we want to apologize for “Pandemivisan” and its publication in the songbook. When the song was included in our latest edition of the songbook, the intention was in no way racist, on the contrary as a parody of those who believe that there is any ethnic group that can be blamed for a pandemic. For us, it was obvious that a global pandemic could not be attributed to an ethnic group. In retrospect, this was naive and irresponsible of us and for that, we really apologize. We take full responsibility for the publication of “Pandemivisan” and we realize the seriousness of what has occurred. We have reviewed the handling of this which has resulted in an action plan that we act on immediately.
We will print a new songbook and “Pandemivisan” will not be included in the next print. During the semester we have sold 167 songbooks and we ask all of those 167 people who have bought this edition of the songbook to come and change it to the new edition free of charge or get a full refund.
Furthermore have we appointed a committée which will review our equal treatment policy and develop a control system to ensure this never occurs again.
We are a nation that works actively with transparency, openness and equal treatment, but in this situation we have failed.
